This is definitely one of the best metal albums to come out of the 80's. The music is great, the lyrics are great. This is one album any fan of classic Christian metal should not miss!

One Excellent Band from the early ages of christian rock/metal. Heavenly metal to bang your head to. Now all I would like to see are bands like Saint, Deliverance and bands like Wickeds End(Glenn Rowlands) re-release some things.

Very good; perhaps, a classic. The guitarwork is fantastic, very heavy. The production's good. But, the singing is the weakness: For instance, the chorus on 'Voice That's Calling' blows! THE KIDS COULDN'T HOLD A TUNE, GUYS!! Also, the lead singer's voice is barely noticeable during some high notes throughout the CD -- meaning a clean-up job to hide strained vocals. Excellent tunes. Should've gotten better singers, though.

A great record. The guitars are nice and heavy. This record was more of a throwback to the late 70's/early 80's metal, which was very driven by melodic rhythm guitars in a fairly repetitious chords. But I loved it! Big drums, big bottom end, hard and heavy guitars, good leads...it was great. I'm with Cephas...the vocals could have been a bit better. But who cares?!

One of the best Christian Metal Bands of their time I rate them in the same catagory as the christian power metal band Stryken ,not stryper Master of the metal is still Number 1

Wow, Messiah Prophet are still a 'cult item' after all these years! I first heard them on a K-Tel compilation cassette called 'Righteous Metal' and tracked down a vinyl (!) copy of MASTER OF THE METAL soon afterwards. I understand there are one or two other M.P. albums out there... any info on whether they're any good? M.O.T.M. is an underground classic in my book...

This album is really good start to finish. To me the title track is the best on the album. It has that sound in it that brings me right back into the 80's when I was in HS listening to this album. I have heard rumors of this not being a true metal band, but who cares. The music was good and even though you can tell the cymbals were overdubbed too loud, the music is great. I also loved the cover. I have an original casette of this and it still sounds great. This is very hard to find.

A guitarist from this band goes to my church although he's not listed under the personel so I'm assuming he joined after this album. It's cool to see all of this talk about this album and it's even better to here Frank tell stories about the rock and roll days (although I'm not really a metal fan myself).

Hey do not get me wrong.I use to crank up 'Heavy Metal Thunder' and 'Master of the Metal' just like everyone else.If I listen to it now I have to admit that the vocals are the downfall.'Hit and Run' really shows this but I still like this album. The mix is good and the songs are Metal candy that I crave.
From: GTN   (IP unknown) Date: August 15, 2003 at 9:22
One of the best metal bands in the'80. First time I heard about them was in 1987 when I saw them in concert in The Netherlands. They were live even better than on the album.

This was actually one of my favorite cds in the mid 80's along with Saint's 'Too Late for Living' which came out the same year as 'Master of the Metal' on the same label. Even now, just looking at the song titles I can sing the choruses to most of these songs, which shows either the band knew how to write a solid hook or I just played the thing so much it's permanently engraved into my brain. 'He is the Master of the Metal' chugga chugga chugga...Gotta love it!

MASTERPIECE!! that's all I can say.

Messiah Prophet and Saint were by far the two best Christian metal bands of all time. I can't believe it has been 18 years since I first heard the song Heavy Metal Thunder. It still gets me pumped up when I hear it. I have Rock the Flock and Master of the Metal on cassette, and I was lucky enough about 5 years ago to find an original Cd that was still in shrink wrap for $100.00 of Master of the Metal. It was worth every penny. Still looking for Colors on cd. Is that cd very good.
From: GodsHeadBanger   (IP unknown) Date: April 27, 2004 at 1:45
This was one of my all time favorite groups. The title song really rocks. If anyone knows of a way to where I can find this on CD, I would like to hear from you ASAP. Being delivered out of the occult and finding God thru 'Heaven's Metal' made my world and grew my faith in JC, 'the REAL master of the metal.' contact me at: nuvineministries@hotmail.com. R.O.C.K. on for JC!!!

I'm glad you all enjoyed this record. Interested to hear who re-issued it. I played on it and had to buy my copy off eBay. Many fond memories recording and touring with the band. Sadly, the biz end was polluted with scoundrels. That's what REALLY broke up the winning lineup.
