Arguably the first Christian thrash disc to exist. Larry Farkas lays down such cool improv leads and Roger Martinez has a distinct vocal approach. Production is pretty raw and a little on the muddy side, but still some great songs to be had here. This disc was originally issued under the name Vengeance, but it was reissued as Vengeance Rising since another band already had that name. Favorite Tracks: Human Sacrifice, Burn, White Throne.

This was the first Chriastian thrash album I bought when I was a teen. It is,without a doubt, the boundary stone set for this genre in Christian music. I loved it then and love it now. It taught as well as rocked!

One of my all time favorite CDs ever! Got to see VR on this tour and they were BETTER than this studio platter. The performance here isn't bad, but a little loose. But hey, it's THRASH! Still a frequent player decades later. I love it!

VR's first 2 cd's rule!! It's just too bad Roger Martinez took a nosedive into satanism. oh well, VR is a great band!! Hey Roger, come back into the fold bro!! Jesus did'nt leave you, YOU left Him.

This effort was my favorite thrash metal release bar none. I received their demo before they were ever signed and it included White Throne, He Is God, Salvation, Human Sacrifice and Beheaded. My favorite Vengeance song of all time has got to be Mulligan Stew. I have always wished for more.

Yeah I really liked them..but now I can't listen to it anymore, after Roger decided he wanted to be Judas. Hopefully he'll return to Christ. You know you should Roger...you aren't nothing without CHRIST!!!

the best thrashmetal cd around!!!!
From: David   (IP unknown) Date: April 7, 2004 at 16:35
Don't look at the persons that made it. just listen to it and let it get into your system. It's one of the best christian albums ever made, with the most radical lyrics. Don't build your faith on man, nobody on this earth is without sin so don't throw rocks. Pray........

In all my 7 years as a metalhead, I've heard so many people say metal is the music of the devil. But when I first heard of Vengeance Rising, I gave them a listen, and they just completely blew that theory out the window! Basically, Vengeance Rising can be summarized into one equation: Messages supporting my religion + my favorite genre of music = ONE AWESOME BAND!!!!
From: Jesse   (IP unknown) Date: April 15, 2004 at 15:14
preach it Chris! Still ranks as one of my favorites all these years later. Heard rumor of a Vengeance reunion in 2004. Check it out: www.roxxproductions.com These are the same guys that put on the Stryper Expos, bringing Stryper back together, and the Barren Cross/Recon reunions at Martigras.

Hands down my favorite Christian rock album cover of all time. The album cover and title was just a genius. 'Beheaded' still shreds and I love the instrumental 'Ascension'- very killer indeed. Roger, we still love you man. You and I have one thing in common: we both have backslid but we'll come back because we both know Christ is the only way. God loves you and me dude!
From: Scott   (IP unknown) Date: April 27, 2004 at 17:06
well Jesse, looks like you were telling the truth. Roxx released a press release: This year we have managed to get together the original (Vengeance) line up, featuring the original members! This year if you see one historical concert, you won’t want to miss, the return of …Vengeance!!!! Featuring original members, Larry Farkas (Lead Guitar), Glen Mancaruso (Drums), Roger Dale Martin (Bass), Doug Thieme (Guitar), and on vocals…We’ll keep you guessing on that one for a while!

When their demo came out, it blew me away. Vengeance were pioneers. Human Sacrifice is a classic. A little rough around the edges, but just as it should be.

This is the classic of classics! When thrash is this good it blows everything else away. A masterpiece musically and lyrically the coolest album cover as well. A must if you are into thrash, it doesn't get better than this!

Is there a christian band that sounds like HATEBREED? If there is please inform me.
From: Scott   (---.) Date: March 1, 2005 at 13:29
Joe-Metal. Try OIL with Ron Rinehart (ex-Dark Angel) on vocals.
From: Joe-Metal   (---.bhm.bellsouth.net) Date: March 3, 2005 at 17:25
Does Vengeance Rising sound like Slayer? If they do some body hook me up please.
From: Scott   (---.) Date: March 8, 2005 at 11:00
Vengeance sounded like no other thrash band at the time. They are fast, heavy, and brutal. If you like early Slayer, however, chances are you will like the 'Human Sacrifice.' It's a thrash classic!
From: Joe-metal   (---.domain.tld) Date: March 9, 2005 at 12:18
I heard Crimson Thorn sounds like Cannable Corpse. Is this true?
From: Jesse   (---.) Date: March 10, 2005 at 10:41
For those who don't know, Scott Waters of Ultimatum is now singing with the original four members of Vengeance in a new band called Once Dead! They have a new live DVD out and they play songs off this CD, as well as Once Dead. They are also scheduled to play Cornerstone Festival this summer!

I really need to find a christian band that sounds pantera. The vocals, the guitar and the galloping drums. If there is such a band please inform me.
From:   (---.proxy.aol.com) Date: April 16, 2005 at 13:37
IMO, this album is what thrash is all about. This one still ranks as one of my favs. I cannot listen it without being in total awe of the speed and talent. Two thumbs WAY up! BTW, joe-metal, I was told that Weapons of our Warfare by Deliverance sounds like Pantera.
From: joe-metal   (---.domain.tld) Date: April 18, 2005 at 12:27
I appreciate it dude. I am a huge fan of pantera but their lyrics are absolutly evil.
From:   (---.chilesat.net) Date: May 20, 2005 at 22:55

From: Stender   (---.nas3.eugene1.or.us.da.qwest.net) Date: December 29, 2007 at 0:25
2nd only to the 'once dead' album, this record slays! Burn, White throne, Mulligans stew, I love hating evil, and acension all killer tracks. I wish I was around when these guys were in their hayday. I have the original 'Vengeance' 1988 copy of this cd before they had to change their name, only a 1000 were made.
From: aMetalhead1966   (---.) Date: June 9, 2008 at 15:40
Really good one here...some great songs and playing.. I really did 'Burn Satan Burn' probably the best track here IMO...
